I live in a roof-top apartment with a terrace of limited dimensions. My cats were used to walking around freely on a balcony in my previous apartment. This new terrace is dangerous because the cats can access the rooftop and travel to a neighboring building as well (5 stories up). To my surprise one of my fellow teachers was an Expert DIY builder and creator--Handy Helen--and offered to build the Catio. With the measurements of the space and an idea of the envisioned Catio, Helen prepared a list of all the materials I would need. I had the wood and chickenwire delivered; Helen opted to purchase the ironmongery, and other bits and pieces she knew would be necessary. Over the course of two Saturdays Helen built this custom Catio "in situ." A few weeks later she added the additional catwalk and the two kitty hammocks. From here my cats can watch the birds, smell the fresh air, and enjoy some sunshine!

Helen came to repaint our kitchen while we went away. We came back to great new look and were delighted with the result.
